Mister, how much do you want for that there pony.

We went to a horse expo a while back to appease Maddie’s need to view horses in all they do. She has been trying to convince us we can have a horse in our yard. Somewhere she heard horses eat grass and she knows we have a lot of it!

When we arrived at the expo we went straight into the horse barns. The first horse we saw Maddie gravitated to and we had to give her a little “how to approach a horse” etiquette. She quickly caught on that you can’t just rush to pet a horse. Approach slowly and they won’t get spooked. After perusing several horses and commenting on how wonderful they would be to ride we stepped into a riding area. There were ten ponies tethered together like an organic merry-go-round. We had to sign a waiver to say that if one of the horses trampled her we wouldn’t sue. Maddie was in heaven. She looked like me when I have a cup of coffee and an entire cheesecake to myself. As she got off her stallion, she noticed a girl riding a full sized horse. I asked if the waiver covered the behemoth and they said yes. With one felt swoop, she was on Champion. This horse was as dark as chocolate and silky like nothing I’ve ever seen. He was beautiful. The “walker” asked if this was Maddie’s first time riding a horse which to Maddie replied an exuberant yes. The walker was so proud to accompany Maddie around the riding area that I thought they would never stop.

Once the riding was over, we headed to the exhibition hall. They had all things horse related. You could buy rodeo outfits, horse models, boots, horse trailers, etc. Some of the horse trailers were nicer than my house. Who knew you could buy a movable house for so little. Anyway, in the same building the rodeo was going on. Since there was only a few minutes left we snuck in and watch some bull riding. There wasn’t much horse action but it was interesting nonetheless. I’m quite sure Maddie has visions of being a bull rider in her future.
